DWNC Meeting Minutes – May 2, 2026

The DWNC Membership Meeting was held on May 2, 2026. Debbie Lindh called the meeting to order and led members through approval of the April meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s Report.

Approval of Minutes and Treasurer’s Report

The April meeting minutes were approved following a motion by Debbie Lindh and a second by Lily Marie.

Sue presented the Treasurer’s Report. Current finances include approximately $2,999 in checking and $2,000 in savings. Of the available funds, $2,000 has been designated for scholarships and another $2,000 reserved for upcoming expenses. The Treasurer’s Report was approved after a motion by Debbie Lindh and a second by Marcy.

Scholarship Luncheon – May 9

Members were reminded about the upcoming Scholarship Luncheon on May 9. Ticket prices range from $30–$35, and attendance is encouraged to support the scholarship program.

This year, two students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their academic achievement and potential.

The luncheon will include meal options such as chicken and portabella mushroom entrees, along with a dessert and cake auction. Auction items will include paintings, jewelry, gift baskets, wine, books, and other donated items. A QR code is available for event sign-ups and participation.

Members were reminded that the final attendee count must be submitted to the caterer by Monday.

Candidate Forums and Community Engagement

Debbie Lindh reported on the recent DCC candidate forum held at the Miners Foundry featuring Heidi Hall and Chris Bennett. The event was well attended and recorded for later viewing on KVMR as a podcast.

Additional forums, including a Superintendent of Schools forum, are also available on the Democratic Women’s website. Members noted the value of these forums in helping the community better understand local candidates and issues.

Meetups and Member Spotlight

Debbie emphasized the importance of member meetups as a way to build connections in a casual setting. The next meetup will take place on May 20 at Condon Park from noon to 2:00 p.m. Members are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.

Eva was recognized as the featured member for May. She shared her background, including her studies at UC Berkeley and her career in economics. Eva also spoke about a recent hacking incident she experienced and encouraged members to be cautious online and take cybersecurity seriously.
